About Us! LSCAP is part of Environment Canada’s Atlantic Coastal Action Program (ACAP). As such, we are part of a network of sixteen (16) ACAP sites that are doing environmental work throughout Atlantic Canada. Our organization was officially formed under our current by-laws in November or 2006 and became incorporated under the Corporations Act of Newfoundland and Labrador in April of 2007. LSCAP is a non-profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that consists of stakeholders from throughout its project area, which correlates with the boundaries for Economic Zone 4 (Cartwright - Lodge Bay). Our Mission: “To foster and promote healthy, sustainable aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems through stewardship, education and research in partnership with various stakeholders on the southeast coast of Labrador” Our Goals Include: Ensuring healthy aquatic, terrestrial and air systems through education, planning, research and partnership. Supporting the sustainable use of the land by addressing the health of the environment. Addressing environmental issues and problems that are affecting the northern reality of Labrador. Addressing Climate change/Solid waste issues |
